What is UIVIEW? and what is MB7USK?

MB7USK is run be Matt, M1CMN. It gateways all traffic heard via RF onto the Internet. It has the ability to gateway Internet traffic onto RF. You can talk to stations around the World via the gateway. You can send e-mails via the gateway
MB7USK gateways all traffic heard via RF onto the Internet.

All stations that are heard at MB7USK on 144.800 are passed onto the Internet. The result of this is that any other station who is connected to the internet can see your beacons. This means that you shouldn't be surprised if you are sitting in front of your screen and you suddenly receive an incoming chat message from a station in America, or Australia, or any other location.

You can talk to stations around the World via it.
If you know the callsign of a station who is also connected to the Internet, you can send messages to them. However, it is more likely that a distant station will choose your own station to send a message to. However, if the issues regarding gating traffic from the Internet to RF are solved, then you will be able to see some stations and initiate QSO's yourself. Currently you can find out what stations are online throughout the World by looking at the
javAPRS page

You can send e-mails via the gateway.
This is a very impressive feature of the IGATE. Simply send an APRS format message addressed to EMAIL with the start of your message text being the e-mail address of the recipient, then a space, then the message text itself and it will be sent via e-mail automatically. Remember that in the UK you are only allowed to send messages to other licenced Radio Amateurs.
From your UIVIEW Message Screen, in the To: box where you normally put in the callsign of the station you are sending a message to, - put in EMAIL (all one word) Tick the APRS box, - & in the message box - type the email address followed by the message. - The message will then be sent. The email gateway works well, you should get a reply to say your EMAIL has been delivered.

The UIVIEW Software
Sadly Roger died of cancer on the 8 September 2004, but I am sure that uiview will continue to be the best in the world for many years to come.

Add-on utilities continue to be written and enhanced, plus the "family of UI-View users" is continuing to support it via the
Yahoo eGroup. A couple of days after Roger became Silent Key there was a spontaneous tribute by the global family. The following screen grab shows UI-View Objects placed mid Atlantic, each with its own message of condolence. Also a book of condolence was set up at http://g4ide.ham-radio.ch/
