APRS Coverage
APRS Coverage in the Kent area
The Kent APRS team work hard to run the following Digi sites, and IGATES in the Kent area.
MB7UK is located just a few miles from Leeds Castle, and covers the Weald of Kent. The site operator is Nick G4ZXI, assisted by Matt M1CMN. As i type (March 2010) we have just upgraded the system. The system now uses a stand alone KPC3+ and PMR Radio on 144.800. The system does have battery backup. We are looking at replacing the antenna sometime this summer. Reports on this system to Nick G4ZXI.
G3OJZ, Brian is located on the cliffs between Dover and Folkestone, and has provided APRS coverage for over 10 years. His digi covers much of East Kent, including Thanet, and as far as Canterbury and the Romney Marsh. Brian runs UIVIEW and a weather station.
MB7USK Matt runs this IGATE, which is a low power IGATE with enough power to communicate to G3OJZ. It sits there on a laptop running uiview.
MB7UIK Nick runs this IGATE, which is a low power IGATE with enough power to communicate with MB7UK.
MB7UTI Stuart G1DST runs this IGATE, which covers the Sandwich area.
Future DIGI Sites are planned for Canterbury, and Isle of Sheppey areas.
