HF APRS
Brian G3OJZ has drawn up a new political map of Europe. This zip file contains two maps; one is 800 x 600 and one 1024x768 size. Many thanks to Brian for all his hard work.
The main centre of HF activity in Europe is on 10.147.5Mhz USB 300 baud
You may also find some activity on:
- 14.103Mhz LSB 300 baud
- 14.105Mhz LSB 300 baud
- 21.117Mhz LSB 300 baud.
- If 10 metres is open 29.250 Mhz 1200 baud FM is sometimes used.
The above frequencies are for KAM type TNCs. If you use AGW Packet Engine, you will need to tune slighly off these frequencies (using the inbuilt tuning meter) because of the different tones used.
AGWPE (Packet Engine)
This software was written by George Rossopulos SV2AGW and is a way of using your PC soundcard without a TNC with UI-View, WinAPRS and some other packet programs like WinPack.
This excellent software is available at http://www.raag.org/sv2agw/ and is completely free.
Anyone contemplating using AGWPE for the first time is advised to read the excellent manual written by Ralph Milnes KC2RLM who explains in detail everything you need to know to get the system up and running easily.
It's available at http://www.qsl.net/soundcardpacket/ in 5 parts.
